University-bound students have a full range of quality course offerings with many extras, such as athletics (baseball, softball, rodeo), intramurals, a film series, and many world-class musical performances in the 580 seat Whatley Performing Arts Center. Students can experience a first-rate theater program, which offers at least six productions every year, and participate in a number of outstanding student organizations, including award-winning student chapters of the American Chemical Society, Psi Beta (Psychology Honor Society), and Phi Theta Kappa (National Honor Society for 2-Year Colleges). Highly credentialed faculty serve as advisors for these groups and maintain a personal interest in students’ success—even after they leave NTCC to transfer to top universities anywhere in the country. Through partnerships with Texas A&M University – Texarkana, Texas A&M University – Commerce, and The University of Texas at Tyler, students can complete a bachelor’s degree in Education (Science, Secondary Education, Math), Nursing, and Social Work, while attending classes on the NTCC campus.
Allied Health programs in highly sought after careers in Dental Hygiene, Emergency Medical Services, Medical Assisting, Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, Physical Therapist Assistant, and Radiologic Technician offer two-year degrees or one-year certificates for immediate employment in high-paying jobs. Welding, Automotive, Diesel, and Auto Body Repair programs, as well as Agriculture, Business, Computer Science, Cosmetology, Office Technology, a Police Academy with a state-of-the-art indoor firing range are just some of many more opportunities that NTCC presents to students.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Ability to assist program staff in carrying out activities with students: some activities require standing, walking, and carrying supplies/materials. Ability to take attendance and disperse program supplies and snacks. Ability to maintain a safe environment with structure and discipline via program and campus rules and procedures. Ability to accept supervision by program staff in accordance with NTCC human resource policies and procedures. Ability to work late afternoons and evenings. Must appreciate all children and maintain a desire to help them and their parents.
QUALIFICATIONS: High school graduate or GED; current college students preferred. Expertise in the activity areas and prior experience is not as important as modeling enthusiasm and willingness to try program activities to students in the program. Training will be provided by program staff.
APPLICATIONS: Applications will be accepted until position is filled. Please send an NTCC Application for Employment, a complete résumé, official transcripts from all colleges attended, a letter of application in which you address the above responsibilities, and two letters of recommendation from current or past employers. Other materials may be requested by the College. Please DO NOT e-mail, fax or send any other materials.
