POSITION SUMMARY:  The UNM Student Union seeks to hire an experienced and successful Administrative Assistant II. The desired professional candidate is self-directed, highly motivated, and presents a proven ability to effectively manage multiple roles and tasks simultaneously. Please note the departmental preferences for additional desired qualifications.

Performs a variety of administrative, fiscal and staff support duties for a specified unit/department, which requires a range of skills and knowledge. Maintains a daily calendar, composes, edits and proofreads correspondence and reports, and prepares a range of administrative documents. Performs complex data entry and related operations in posting accounts receivable payments. Maintains appropriate ledgers. Resolves credit balances and account problems; posts claim denials, refunds, adjustments and other account actions  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  High school diploma or GED; at least 3 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.  

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Demonstrated experience working in a fast paced office environment utilizing strong organizational and coordinating skills.
Experience with maintaining calendars and scheduling appointments. Ability to interact with other departments and external customers in the resolution of day-to-day matters
Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications and information systems, including UNM Banner/Link, Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and GroupWise
Knowledge of:
General accounting principles. Ability to calculate numbers, correct entries and post to records
Customer service standards and procedures
Ability to:
Gather data, compile information and prepare reports
Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Experience with creating, composing and editing written materials. Excellent writing skills as demonstrated in cover letter submitted with application
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.

If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
