POSITION SUMMARY: The University of New Mexico Health Sciences Center is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Biohazard Compliance team as an Administrative Assistant III. The position is responsible for coordinating the activities of the Institutional Biosafety Committee which governs all rDNA and Biohazard research at the University of New Mexico. Duties for this position include agenda preparation, distribution of review materials, meeting set-up, recording and transcribing meeting minutes, preparation of educational materials, assuring attendance for meetings and other administrative duties as outlined in the job description.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience that is directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Proficiency:
Using Microsoft Office Suite including MS Word, MS Access, MS Powerpoint, and MS Excel
Utilizing medical terminology
Experience:
Taking, transcribing and editing recorded or written meeting minutes utilizing the computer
multi-tasking in a deadline driven environment
Utilizing Novell Groupwise, Outlook, or other similar calendaring/scheduling collaboration to schedule, cancel and change meetings for multiple attendees
with Banner finance, specifically preparing/running Hyperion reports
monitoring, reconciling and assisting with fiscal administration including travel and purchasing
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This position is represented by a labor union and is subject to the terms and conditions of the USUNM Collective Bargaining Agreement.
If this position is assigned to the Athletics Department, either administratively or functionally, compliance with all NCAA rules and regulations is required.
Candidates for this position must be eligible for employment as verified by the US Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Services Administration (GSA); those individuals on the OIG/GSA Exclusion Lists will not be considered for hire. Once hired, periodic checks will be made for eligibility of continued employment.
