POSITION SUMMARY:  UNM has created a key new leadership position responsible for institution-wide sustainability. This position organizes and oversees the management and implementation of a comprehensive program with the mission to maintain and enhance environmental stewardship within the campus community, support new initiatives for sustainable development, and identify operational cost savings. Formulates responses to legislative proceedings as they relate to new sustainability and environmental legislation, assess their cost effectiveness, technical feasibility, and means of achieving acceptance. Facilitates cost savings, fundraising, and grant awards in the area of sustainability. Involved in university construction projects to steward sustainability principles.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree; at least 7 years experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

QUALIFICATIONS:  
Experience:
In managing personnel and environmental resources in a public or private setting
With higher education organizational structure
Working on sustainability in higher education
Demonstrated experience and understanding of methods, practices, and procedures associated with campus sustainability
LEED accreditation
Master's Degree
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
