POSITION SUMMARY:  Albuquerque Metro Central Intake (AMCI) has an entry level opening for an assessment clinician. AMCI's mission is to facilitate entry into substance abuse counseling for low-income individuals in Bernalillo County. We have been providing this service through a contract with the city of Albuquerque for almost 12 years and anticipate continuing to serve the community for the foreseeable future. Our clientele includes many court ordered individuals as well as self-referrals and individuals referred by other agencies in the community.

The substance abuse counselor at AMCI provides a comprehensive substance abuse assessment, level of care determination, and referral to an appropriate provider within an established provider network. The successful candidate will have prior experience in substance abuse, mental health, or other social services fields. Internships and field placements can be used as experience. Prior experience with assessment and screening is also very desirable.
Acceptable licenses include: LADAC, LSAA, LBSW, LPC, LMHC, LMSW.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:  Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Social Work, or an equivalent field; at least 1 year of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

OR

Successful completion of at least 60 college-level credit hours; at least 3 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

OR

High school diploma or GED; at least 5 years of experience that can be demonstrated to be applicable to the duties listed in the job description.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Spanish speaker
Proficient with use of Addiction Severity Index assessment tool
Experience using DSM IV diagnostic criteria for substance abuse disorders
 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:  Successful candidate must submit to post offer, pre-employment physical examination/medical history check.
Discipline-specific licensure/certification may be a requirement for positions in this classification.

Candidate must pass a criminal background check if position involves contact with minors.
