Detailed Description:
The Department of Languages, Cultures, and Literatures invites applications for a tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of French beginning Fall 2019. We seek a generalist with broad teaching interests. We are particularly interested in candidates whose work focuses on one or more of the following topics: eighteenth, nineteenth or twentieth centuries, critical race studies, women's, gender and sexuality studies, philosophy, and/or cultural history. The selected candidate will collaborate to further develop the curriculum, establish collaborations with programs and departments on campus, and integrate interdisciplinary approaches. French business or French for the professions is also a plus. Advanced training in Second Language Acquisition is desirable, as is significant experience in language teaching and in effectively addressing diversity in curricula and the classroom.

Job Requirements:

Applicants must have a Ph.D. and native or near-native fluency in both French and English. They must demonstrate an active research agenda, a record of successful teaching, as well as enthusiasm, innovation, and demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching, from basic language to advanced literature and culture courses.
