The Department of Theology and Religious Studies at the University of San Diego announces a tenure-track position in Religious Studies at the rank of Assistant Professor. Area of specialization is Buddhist Studies. The successful applicant will be actively engaged in theory and method in the study of religion as a major aspect of their scholarship and teaching.
The position carries a 3-3 teaching load. Teaching responsibilities will include introductory courses as well as upper-division courses in the area(s) of specialization, and may include courses that fulfill the Diversity, Inclusion, and Social Justice requirement in our newly redesigned core curriculum. The candidate would be expected to teach lower division courses (such as Introduction to World Religions and Exploring Religious Meaning) in alignment with core learning outcomes. Candidates with a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and scholarship are preferred.
Applicants should hold a doctorate by the time of the appointment, September 2019. Commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching, an active scholarly agenda, and commitment to collaborative leadership are required.
