Position Overview:
Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Accommodations Specialist at the Superior Campus. This position is responsible for coordinating disability services and ensuring equal access for students with disabilities. The Accommodation Specialist reports to the Dean of Students. Work schedule is 765 hours scheduled over 38 weeks/year and requires flexibility to meet student demand.

Qualifications:
1) Bachelors degree with a minor or 20 semester credits in special education, rehabilitation, speech pathology, or other related field.
2) Previous work experience involving provision of direct accommodation services to students, including but not limited to: seating, positioning, augmentative/alternative communications, keyboard emulation, and assistive technologies.
3) Knowledge of state and federal laws regarding disability services in post-secondary education.
4) Knowledge of services available for students with disabilities in a post-secondary environment.
5) Demonstrated ability to work with people of diverse economic, social, racial, and ethnic background.
6) Demonstrated leadership skills.
Physical Demands:
Standing, Walking (Frequently);
Sitting, handling/fingering, reaching outward, reaching above shoulders (Occasionally);
Lifting/Carrying 10 lbs. or less (Frequently), 11-20 lbs. (Occasionally);
Pushing/Pulling 12 lbs. or less (Occasionally)
Job Description:
Learner Success
Promote equal access to post-secondary education
Provide services to students with disabilities
Provide college-wide staff development activities related to special needs as requested
Operational Effectiveness
Maintain records that document student plans for provision of selected accommodations
Assist with the review, and revision of college-wide written policies and guidelines for disability service provision
Research emerging issues in disability services
Assist with the development of disability grant proposals and provide input to college grant manager
Partnerships
Assist with transition services
