Position Summary and Responsibilities Reporting to the Director of the Sexual Assault and Violence Prevention Office, the Violence Prevention Educator will develop and implement sexual violence prevention programming for students and employees. The Violence Prevention Educator conducts and evaluates violence prevention workshops throughout the academic year, in which topics around issues of consent, sexual assault, relationship abuse, stalking, the impact of gender norms and stereotypes, and effective bystander intervention tools are covered. The Violence Prevention Educator communicates and models a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion in programming to ensure that violence prevention programming addresses the needs of all students on campus, particularly those in historically marginalized populations. The Violence Prevention Educator also responds to the campus' changing needs for violence prevention and develops and implements programming accordingly.

Position Responsibilities:
  • Coordinate targeted violence prevention programming, including comprehensive programming for all incoming students, student athletes, student leaders, and historically marginalized populations (e.g. students of color, international students, LGBTQ+ students, and students living with disabilities).
  • Evaluate effectiveness of prevention efforts on a continuous basis.
  • Supervise a team of student interns throughout the academic year.
  • Collaborate with on- and off-campus groups to coordinate awareness-raising events and campaigns during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Stalking Awareness Month, and throughout the academic year to foster campus dialogue on sexual assault, dating and domestic violence, and stalking.
  • Manage online educational programs and coordinate with various offices to track effectiveness and student participation.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Title IX campus surveys, assessments, and program evaluations pertaining to sexual violence.
  • Assist with the facilitation of wellness related programming in collaboration with the Office of Health Education as it intersects with SAVP (e.g. on topics such as the relationship between alcohol/other substances and consent).
  • Serve on the Vassar Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), the SAVP Committee, the Dutchess County Sexual Assault Response Team, and the Hudson Valley Educator Coalition to maintain communication and collaboration with on- and off-campus partners.
  • Provide support and direct advocacy to survivors of sexual violence, as this arises, but not as a primary job responsibility.
