Job Description
Our Surgical Technology program is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Lab Assistant to support the educational environment for aspiring surgical technologists. This role plays a vital part in ensuring a clean, organized, and well-stocked lab, allowing students to focus on their studies and develop essential skills.
Responsibilities
- Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate inventory levels of surgical instruments, supplies, and equipment.
- Replenish stock as needed, ensuring all necessary items are readily available for lab activities.
- Develop and implement efficient inventory tracking systems.
- Organize and label supplies for easy identification and retrieval.

- Reprocessing and Repackaging:
- Clean, disinfect, and repackage reusable surgical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.
- Ensure proper sterilization techniques are followed to maintain a sterile environment.
- Inspect instruments for damage and report any issues to the lab instructor.

- Lab Maintenance:
- Maintain a clean and sanitary lab environment through regular sweeping, dusting, and mopping.
- Dispose of biohazardous waste according to safety regulations.
- Assist with setting up and preparing the lab for classes and demonstrations.

Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience working in a medical or laboratory setting preferred.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow established protocols.
- Basic understanding of sterile techniques and infection control procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and ability to lift and carry moderate weights.
