Assistant/Associate Professor


The School of Social Sciences and Professional Studies at Ferrum College invites applications and nominations for a tenure-track faculty member at the assistant or associate professor rank in our Computer Information Systems (CIS) Program. The successful candidate will join a dynamic team of faculty as the CIS program works towards attaining NSA/DHS CAE-4Y designation. In addition to more typical job duties, this faculty member will play a key role in further developing our Cyber Security Emphasis and minor, a new curricular offering in the School of Social Sciences and Professional Studies. Since the faculty at Ferrum College value and encourage collaboration, there are opportunities for collaboration between the CIS Program, Business, and Accounting, as well as with other programs, as the College launches the new Business Analytics Program in Fall 2018. We are excited to find someone who can work dynamically to innovate and strengthen these important fields of study! The successful candidate will be expected to have a PhD in Computer Information Systems or a related field, with expertise or experience in programming and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities:
TEACHING: The successful candidate will teach courses in cybersecurity, C++, Java, data structures, and Visual Basic, as well as other core courses in the CIS curriculum. A demonstrated record of college teaching experience is highly desirable. SCHOLARSHIP: A successful candidate will provide evidence of scholarship, publication, and/or presentation activity through appropriate professional venues and involvement in scholarly projects with faculty and students. All candidates must provide evidence of ability to teach effectively at the undergraduate level and possess a commitment to a robust liberal arts education. SERVICE: Our faculty fully participate in leadership activities and fulfill leadership roles at the College-wide, School, Program, and disciplinary level.
