Applications are currently being accepted for Instructional Assistant / Welding in the (CTE Department), located at (ECC/Continuing Education). Hours are Monday thru Friday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the department's needs.

Please note that an employee may be transferred to any site at the option of the Chancellor.

Knowledge: Basic knowledge of welding. District organization, operations, policies, and objectives. English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation, and vocabulary. General needs and behavior of students of various ethnic, racial and cultural backgrounds. Instructional methods and techniques. Operation, maintenance, uses and characteristics of a wide variety of equipment used in instructional labs and learning centers for welding. Oral and written communication skills. Principles and practices of work direction and training. Record-keeping techniques. Safety regulations involving field of specialty. Technical aspects of welding. Skills and abilities: Assist students in understanding and applying basic principles of welding. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Explain work assignments to students. Maintain records and prepare reports. Make simple arithmetic calculations. Meet schedules and time lines. Preform minor maintenance and repair of welding equipment. Plan and organize work. Provide orientation to instructors, staff, and students in the operation of equipment related to welding. Train and provide work direction to others. Understand and follow oral and written directions. Work cooperatively with others. Work independently with little direction. Training and Experience: Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: three years of tutoring, instructional, or work experience related to welding and satisfactory completion of sufficient specialized training in welding to satisfactorily perform the assigned duties. Working Conditions: Physical Requirements: Category II Environment: Involves a welding Instructional lab setting- will be exposed to all hazards of welding equipment and materials.

Pay Information:
Range 19 ($3,265.04 $5,211.73) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Office Technical Salary Schedule

Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
