Job Description:
The Student Techno Functional Systems Analyst will work with project teams within ERPT on innovative solutions that impact the experience of Students, Staff, Faculty, Alumni and others within the USD community. This position will pro-actively manage, troubleshoot, and take ownership of assigned system production issues and implementation projects along with providing technical support to end users on the use of various applications.

The analyst will be actively involved in new releases software, gathering requirements, and testing technical solutions in particular those that leverage, Banner, Degree Works, Courseleaf, College Scheduler, Academic Services solutions, and/or mobile technologies. The position will partner with team members to leverage progressive technologies, create and improve team standards and processes, and existing protocols to arrive at a sustainable application portfolio. This position reports to an ERPT Manager

Examples of Work
Software Configuration/Maintenance
  • Provide Technical and System support for one or more of the following products:
    oBanner Student Information System
    oDegree Works (degree audit system)
    oCourseleaf (Curriculum and Course Catalog systems)
    oCollege Scheduler
  • Lead review of release notes and implement new versions, enhanced features, or patches for assigned products.
  • Oversee production issues ensuring that issue is properly identified, analyzed, and resolved as needed.

    Testing
  • Assist in the design of Technical solutions for complex problems and enhancements.
  • Create and execute functional test scripts to validate system setup/configuration, data conversions, updates, and fixes.
  • Resolve technical problems independently
  • Multi task in the fast-paced, production environment to juggle priorities as needed to provide resolution to high profile technical issues.
  • Develop and maintain websites as assigned.

    Systems Analysis and Project Management
  • Take initiative to have an in-depth understanding and mastery of the systems; recommend optimization and enhancements as needed to fit end-user needs
  • Analyze application user documents, and communicate with management team on requirements to be incorporated in enterprise application systems management and solutions planning
  • Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals, requirements documentation, and presentations.
  • Ensure all project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately.
  • Guide and perform strategic analysis for the project.
  • Develop and provide training as assigned.
  • Assist in the evaluation of technologies for the ERPT organization.
  • Complete projects and upgrades in a timely manner, with strong communication to ERPT Leadership, ERPT managers, Project managers, business users and vendors
  • Lead review of software release notes and upgrade impacts

    System Expertise and Collaboration
  • Advise and contribute as needed to ERPT Projects that require expertise on the systems managed, or data that is being maintained in those systems
  • Develop best practices for business users as well as ERPT for each application
  • Cultivate a passion and interest in applications for higher education, especially for academic administrators, registrar's office, faculty, and students that can enhance their experience and ultimately the overall success of the organization
  • Document implementations, upgrades, responses, changes to applications in ERPT shared drive
  • Practice open and effective communication on a daily basis - on troubleshooting with business users or technical support, in gathering requirements, in collaborating with colleagues, and in every day operations

    Required Qualifications:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline.
  • A minimum of six years experience working as a Techno Functional, Data, or Business Analyst. Three years of experience should be in a higher educational environment.
  • A minimum of three years of experience with Ellucian Banner Student Information System
  • Advance SQL, TSQL

    Experience, Knowledge, Skills:
  • Strong working knowledge with the Banner Student Information System and higher education processes in general.
  • Experience in a vendor supported ERP product environment, understanding of how patches and upgrades are handled and supported at a higher ed institution
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose/resolve technical problems independently.
  • Advance knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical staff as well as non-technical users.
  • Clearly demonstrated ability to multi task and work in a collaborative team environment and to work cooperatively with others.
  • Strong organizational abilities including setting goals, plans, and priorities, to achieve results.
  • Strong management skills - ability to delegate, manage expectations, communicate tasks, goals, and timelines, as well as manage risk, and take initiative
  • Strong techno-functional skills - ability to understand challenges and needs of business users, and the organization as a whole, and provide the necessary support and expertise as required

    Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Ellucian's Banner Student and Degree Works
