Applications are currently being accepted for the position of Theatre Technician at San Diego City College. City College is located in the City of San Diego, and is one of the San Diego Community College District's three college campuses. The Theatre Technician position is critical to the department of Performing and Visual Arts, and is responsible for supporting all theatre and dance productions as well as campus and civic events. Hours are Monday to Friday, 8:00 a.m.to 5:00 p.m. The selected candidate must be willing to adjust work days/hours based on the needs of the campus, District, and Civic Center. Evenings and weekends will be required to support productions in the Saville and Black Box Theatres.

Experience with office operations, budget development, and accounting. 2. Basic principles and theory of stage production. 3. Fire, safety, and health regulations. 4. Lighting, sound, projection design and operation. 5. Operation and use of computers and basic software applications necessary for area of responsibility. 6. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 7. Record-keeping techniques. 8. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, faculty, staff, District personnel and the general public. 9. Understand and follow oral and written instructions. 10. Perform basic stage carpentry, painting, rigging, lighting, electrical, multimedia, and audio operations. 11. Production and performance management. Any combination of training and experience equivalent to: two years of experience in the operation and maintenance of stage equipment, materials, construction, rigging, lighting, and sound with some experience in an office environment and working in the technical aspects of theatre production.
Range 25 ($3,957.23 $6,316.63) per month based on the current AFT Classified Unit Maintenance and Operations Salary Schedule
Initial salary placement is commensurate with related experience and promotional rules. The District offers a comprehensive fringe benefit package including employer paid: medical, dental, and vision plans; sick and vacation leave; and opportunities for professional development. Initial Salary Placement, Promoted or transferred employees will be placed as specified in the AFT-Guild, Local 1931 Classified Staff Collective Bargaining Agreement. This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and may accrue overtime. A temporary probationary period will be applied to the employee entering this assignment.
